Steven Covey, in The Speed of Trust, argues persuasively that everything is faster and less costly when done in an atmosphere where people trust one another. The opposite of trust, he claims, is fear. And, because little of value can be accomplished in an atmosphere of fear, he urges managers and supervisors and parents to be trustworthy and to extend trust to their colleagues and family members.
